You will be amazed at the great variety of birdlife in the Vedanthangal sanctuary: as far as the eyes can see, the trees, the waters of the lake and the air abound in birds, either resting, floating calmly, alighting or taking off or in flight. Expect to see egrets, grey herons, darters, spoonbills, painted stork, open-billed stork, common teals, snakebirds, cormorants, white ibis, night herons and grey pelicans. Adding an exotic touch are migratory birds who come from different neighbouring countries as well as faraway places like Canada, Russia, and Central Asia.
